Two Signs It's Time to Replace Your Construction Company's Hydraulic Conduit Bender

If you own a construction company, part of the building process most likely includes laying conduit pipes underground as well as within the structure itself. To accommodate the differing shapes required, you may already have a hydraulic machine that bends the conduits into the needed angles.

However, if the machine is older, you will eventually need to replace it. Below are a couple of signs that you should replace your company's hydraulic conduit bender as soon as possible to avoid downtime on the building sites if the machine were to fail completely.

1.  Machine Starts Cutting into the Conduit Instead of Bending It

One sign that it's time to replace your conduit bender is when you notice that it has started to cut into the pipe instead of simply bending it. Usually, the cutting will happen if the settings have been changed, and a simple readjustment will allow the equipment to function properly.

However, if you have tried multiple times to readjust the settings and pipes are still being cut, there could be a problem causing the issues with the machine. It may be building up too much pressure within the hydraulic lines, or the motor has started to fail.

Because cut conduits have to be wasted, if you continue using the old machine, you will wind up spending more money than needed on materials. In this case, you should seriously consider just going ahead and replacing the equipment with a new machine.

2.  Hydraulic Fluid Has Begun to Leak out of the Machine

Another sign the machine should be replaced is when you find that hydraulic fluid has begun leaking out. Since the hydraulic system inside the bender is a closed system, it should never leak fluid when it is in good condition and operating normally.

However, if there is leaking fluid, there is probably a problem with deteriorating seals, or the hydraulic lines are damaged. Because the system has been compromised, a new bending machine to replace the broken equipment will be needed.

If your conduit bending machine has hydraulic fluid leaking out of its otherwise closed system and/or is cutting through conduits and causing you to spend extra money on wasted materials, you should consider replacing the machine with a new one.
